Traveling Between Croatia and Montenegro: All About Ferry Connections and Alternatives

Dear travelers, welcome back to our blog!

If you’re traveling between Croatia and Montenegro and looking for information about ferry connections, you’re in the right place. Many travelers want to avoid long border queues, making this a common question – is there a ferry between Montenegro and Croatia?

Unfortunately, the answer is no – there is currently no regular ferry connection between Montenegro and Croatia. Not only is there no ferry route between Dubrovnik and Montenegrin cities, but no ferry service connects any Croatian and Montenegrin port. There have been discussions in the past about establishing such a route, but the lack of an official agreement between the two countries has prevented it from happening.

The only maritime option available is a seasonal catamaran from Budva to Dubrovnik, organized by the Kompas agency. This service is popular among tourists, but it only allows passenger transport, not vehicles.

If you’re planning to travel from Montenegro to Croatia, the best alternative remains road transport. Border crossings can be congested during the peak summer season, so we recommend traveling outside of rush hours or using less crowded border checkpoints. Private boat transfers are also a great option for those looking to avoid land travel.

Until a ferry line is established, stay tuned to our blog for the latest travel updates and useful tips!
