Dubrovnik Parking Guide: Save Time and Money in 2026

You’ve finally arrived in Dubrovnik! You’re dreaming of the Stradun and that first cold drink by the sea… but then you see it: the traffic. Finding a parking space here can feel like winning the lottery, and the last thing you want is a 100€ fine on your first day.

To help you avoid stress and keep your budget for the fun stuff, I’ve created this complete local guide to parking in our city.

Understanding the 5 Parking Zones

Parking in Dubrovnik is strictly divided into zones. Knowing where you are is the difference between a cheap stay and an expensive mistake.

Zone Location Price (May – Oct) Important Note
Zone 0 Right at Pile Gate 5 EUR / hour Most expensive. Hard to find.
Zone 1 Business district (Gruž) 1.30 EUR / hour Great for longer stays.
Zone 2 North Entrance (Cable Car) Residents only ⚠️ DO NOT PARK HERE
Zone 3 General City area 1.30 EUR / hour Most common zone.
Zone 4 Gradac Park Residents only For locals only.

How to Pay for Parking

  1. Parking Meters: Locate the machine, insert coins, and place the ticket on your dashboard.

  2. Tisak Kiosks: Give your license plate number to the clerk. You don’t need to display the receipt.

  3. SMS Parking: Note that this only works with Croatian SIM cards.

The Best Parking Garages (Closest to Old Town)

If you want to avoid the stress of street parking, use these reliable options:

  • Ilijina Glavica (Zagrebačka ul.): 711 spaces. A 5-minute walk through the park to the Old Town. 3 EUR/hour.

  • Port of Gruž: Convenient if you are arriving by ferry or staying in Gruž. 3 EUR/hour.

  • Radeljević (Gruž): The cheapest option at 1 EUR/hour. From here, take bus 1A, 1B, or 3 to the Old Town.

  • Hilton Imperial: Premium option near Pile Gate. Prices are fixed per period (e.g., 0-4h is 40 EUR).

Park the car, find the soul of the city.

Don't spend your vacation looking at asphalt. Once you find a spot, let me show you the 1,000-year history of my home without the traffic stress.

EXPLORE PRIVATE TOURS

A final tip from your local guide: I know parking in our city can feel like a daunting mission, but don’t let it cloud the magic of your first day here. Once you find a spot and turn off the engine, take a deep breath of the salty Adriatic air. The hardest part is over!

Now, leave the car behind, grab your camera, and step into the cobblestone streets where history is waiting to be discovered at every corner. Whether you’re heading for a sunset walk on the walls or a quiet coffee on a hidden terrace, remember that Dubrovnik is best experienced slowly and on foot.

If you ever find yourself lost in the alleys (instead of the parking zones), don’t hesitate to say hello! I’m always happy to share a local secret or two.

Safe travels and see you behind the stone walls!

Warm regards, Vesna
