Hi and welcome! 😊
If you’re planning to visit Dubrovnik by car in 2025, this guide will help you understand the city’s updated traffic regulations, where to park, and how to move around stress-free.
Since June 2, 2025, Dubrovnik has introduced new rules restricting vehicle access near the Old Town — including Pile, Ploče, Zlatni Potok, and Iza Grada. The aim is to protect the historic center and improve the overall flow of people and traffic.
Who is allowed to drive near the Old Town?
Driving access around the Old Town is primarily reserved for local residents with a valid access card issued by the City of Dubrovnik.
In addition, access past the Dubrovnik Public Garage is only allowed for:
- Licensed private transfer companies
- Selected authorized taxis
- Uber or Bolt drivers — only if they have a valid permit issued by the city
All other vehicles must stop at the public garage and continue on foot or by public transport.
Staying at a place with private parking?
If your accommodation includes private parking inside the restricted zone, you are allowed to drive there — but your host must register your license plate with the city in advance so you receive an official access permit.
Make sure to arrange this with your host before arrival.
Where to park if your lodging doesn’t include parking?
We recommend using the Dubrovnik Public Garage — a secure facility conveniently located near the Old Town.
