Hi everyone!
If you’ve been dreaming about your next trip to Dubrovnik, you’re probably wondering what kind of weather to expect. Is it all sunshine and sea breezes? Well… mostly yes — but let’s take a closer look!
A Mediterranean climate with character
Dubrovnik, located in the very south of Croatia, enjoys a classic Mediterranean climate: mild, rainy winters and hot, dry summers. During the cooler months, temperatures usually range between 8°C and 15°C — never too cold, but often paired with showers that give the city a refreshing, dramatic charm. In the summer, Dubrovnik turns into a sun-soaked haven, with average temperatures between 25°C and 30°C, perfect for lounging at the beach or heading out on a sea adventure (yes, like our kayaking tour!).
What to expect throughout the year
Each season in Dubrovnik brings its own personality. While the city receives around 1000 mm of rain annually, most of it falls during the cooler months. But don’t worry — even in the rainy season, Dubrovnik often surprises visitors with sudden bursts of sunshine, ideal for spontaneous walks through the Old Town or along the city walls.
An early heatwave surprise
That being said, the weather has a mind of its own. Over the past few weeks, Dubrovnik experienced an unexpected heatwave — yes, even before the official start of spring! Locals were swapping jackets for t-shirts, and the stone streets of the Old Town felt like a summer afternoon. It caught everyone off guard but made for some spectacular sunsets and ice cream strolls by the sea.
What’s coming next?
But, as with all good things, this early taste of summer won’t last forever. According to the latest forecasts, a cooler, wetter front is on its way, expected to arrive around April 17, 2024. Temperatures will drop, and rain will make a comeback — so it’s a good time to adjust plans and pack accordingly.
A quick tip from the locals:
If you’re visiting Dubrovnik during rainy days, don’t rely only on umbrellas. When it rains here… it really rains. A waterproof jacket is your best friend!
Stay flexible, stay curious
No matter the weather, Dubrovnik always offers something beautiful to experience — from cozy cafés with sea views to museums, galleries, and peaceful walks under the drizzle. Just check the daily forecast, bring a bit of flexibility, and let the city surprise you.
Until next time,
Vesna
