Jewish Heritage Tour

Experience the 500-Year Sephardic Legacy with a Local Expert

Why settle for a crowded group tour with a scripted lecture? Dubrovnik’s Jewish history is a story of survival, resilience, and a community that shaped the Adriatic. Join me, Vesna, a Dubrovnik native, for an exclusive 2-hour private walk through the hidden alleys of the Ghetto and the second oldest Sephardic Synagogue in Europe.

The 14th-Century Synagogue & Museum

We’ll step inside the oldest Sephardic synagogue still in use. Established in the 16th century, this is the heart of Jewish life in the Mediterranean. I’ll guide you through its unique Baroque interior and shared museum, revealing how the community managed to hide priceless Torah scrolls and 13th-century tapestries during the darkest times of history.

Insider Edge: Learn how the local community preserved these treasures from generation to generation within the city walls.

Inside the Jewish Ghetto

Walk the Via del Ghetto where Jewish life was officially established in 1546. I will point out the subtle architectural signs of Sephardic life that most tourists walk right past, sharing stories of the doctors, diplomats, and families who were the backbone of the Dubrovnik Republic.

Stories of the Sephardic Diaspora

Who were the merchants and thinkers that the Republic couldn't live without? We’ll discuss the unique "Status of Jews" in Dubrovnik—a fascinating balance of high-level influence and refuge that made this city a safe haven in a turbulent world.
